Estate Planning Services

For qualified individuals, we offer estate planning, wills, trusts, and coordinated financial planning with your financial advisor ... more .

We provide prenuptial and postnuptial planning and agreements which should be considered if cohabitating and either party has or may inherit significant income or assets.

Your Last Will and Testament ... and Trusts

To properly transfer your assets upon death, you should have a Last Will and Testament document.  The disposition of assets may be included in your Will and proper estate planning may include Trusts to most efficiently transfer assets to your desired heirs.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

Although difficult to discuss with your soon to be spouse or current spouse, issues of property after survival or divorce play an important part in estate planning.

Financial Planning , Cohabitation Agreements, and Common Law Marriage

If you are cohabitating with someone with no plans of  becoming married in a state which allows "informal marriage" claims, such as Texas, you should have a Cohabitation Agreement to prevent unwanted claims against your estate by your cohabitant.  Cohabitation Agreements are recognized in Texas and should be used if either cohabitant has significant assets which they want to protect.

Financial Planning, Cohabitation Agreements, When You're Retired

There are reasons you may desire to cohabitat instead of becoming married later in life.  The reasons vary with family and financial circumstances.  Our estate planning and financial advisors can help you make that decision.

Financial Planning Before Divorce

Before you file for a Divorce in Texas, or before your spouse files for a Divorce in Texas, there are steps you should take to protect yourself and your children, without diminishing the rights of your spouse or children.

Estate Planning After Divorce and Divorce Attorneys in Austin, Texas

Although we do not handle divorces in Texas, many of our clients will unfortunately and ultimately be involved in a divorce.  Being a primary legal contact for many clients, we are often asked for referrals to the best divorce lawyer in Austin, Travis County, and surrounding Texas Counties.  We can provide referrals when asked, and provide consultation during divorce proceedings regarding division of real estate, assets, mutual funds, and future estate planning after divorce, including prenuptial agreements.

After divorce, you will need a new will and modify beneficiaries on mutual funds and brokerage accounts.  These are important issues which can be left aside after divorce because of your emotional focus during and after the divorce proceeding, which we understand.  The new estate planning issues may be mentioned by your Divorce Attorney as "things to do" after the divorce, but will not be specifically cared for during or after the divorce proceedings by your Divorce Attorney.

We provide those new estate planning services after Divorce, and as our client, will remind you to take care of them because of their importance in proper estate planning.

We Can Help You Determine Your Best Choice of Legal Representation

We offer free initial consultations to help consumers or governmental agencies find appropriate legal

consultation.  If we believe that your interests may be better served by another attorney or firm who specializes in the area of your concern or issue, we will suggest consultation with them.

We limit our practice and do not offer representation in the areas of family law, personal injury, or criminal law.  Concentrating on our specialties of regulatory, business, and administrative law allows us to deliver the highest level of legal representation to our clients who need and require our expertise.  Should you need an attorney for represention in a specialty that we do not serve, we are pleased to provide you with recommendations.

Budgeting, Fees, and Arrangements

We recognize that all of us, including businesses and governmental agencies or entities must operate on budgets.  Although. we are unlikely to be the least expensive law firm in Texas, we offer creative and alternative fee arrangements.  Our goal is to offer the best legal representation available while making your legal costs predictable and reasonable.
